The American Elk were the first animals we came across. They were sitting right by the side of the road. I wanted to get out and touch one.
In the wetlands we saw a couple of pelicans cleaning themselves. They acted as though nothing was going on around them. We also saw lots of turtles and frogs.
During the safari we saw two black bears. We were fortunate to be able to watch one of them climb up a tree. It took the bear a couple of tries to get up. What an experience it was to be able to see that.
This was our second trip to the safari and for the first time we were able to see two wolves. We were unable to get any pictures but it was really cool to be able to see them.
Here is a herd of bison that we saw. There were quite a few. There were even quite a few young ones in the group. Josie really liked seeing them.
In another part of the wetlands there were several Sand hill Cranes. There were a few that were in the road standing right next to our truck. Josie kept sticking her head out of the window and quacking at them. It was really funny. They weren't bothered at all by us. It just stood there and stared right back up at Matt.
This picture is for Rosalee, while she was out visiting us she was so excited to see a turkey out in the wild. There were a couple hiding in the long grass so I snapped this picture for her.
I couldn't get Josie to sit on the bison with Anthony she was to scared. So she stood there and pouted because I took her candy away while we took the picture.
We had a wonderful outing as a family. It was great to see all of the animals so comfortable in their environment.
